So I was going to leave Key West. I was at the bus station when I found out I would have a nine hour layover at the Miami bus stop which I would not describe as scenic. Or I could get to Tampa by 7am, leaving at 5:30 pm. Neither option seemed attractive, so I decided to stay an extra night at the local hostel. The following pictures are from that night and the next day. I took a picture for a couple during this sunset and they were nice enough to oblige in return for the thinking man. There are many roosters and chickens on Key West and roosters do cockle at random intervals, not just first thing in the morning. I heard them described as 'island squirrels' as strangely enough I don't remember seeing any squirrels which are usually in plenty on Florida.
Following that is pictures from the local Butterfly Museum on Duval St. Here they have created a tropical closed system environment with many different types of butterfly and birds. Some are even nice enough to land on you! The museum purchases the cocoons from butterfly farms, where the rest in display windows until they are hatched and then freed into the arboretum. An incredible place, well worth the visit. The gift shop is also something to see.
Lastly are pictures from scuba trip I took with a local company called Fury. Here they took us out for approximately three hours, to two different locations. The reason I took this trip was, its always nice to get out on a boat in the water, and in order to get to the reef, you must go out a distance. For three hours at forty five dollars, it was well worth the effort.
All in all, I really enjoyed the Keys, and would not be surprised if I returned at someplace, maybe in the near future. Thanks for looking and reading.
Jamie
